Well I really like writing for The Kid because he’s sort of half-nuts. I can have fun with language and references. Quite a lot of the characters in the books have syndromes but they’re not spelled out, so I have this idea that The Kid has this condition that he remembers every little thing people have said to him. He stores up all these phrases and lines of information in his head and then it all comes spewing out, even if he doesn’t necessarily understand it all. His brain is wired differently.
