Not quite a remake, but not quite not a remake, Ratchet & Clank managed to take the thrilling blend of third-person shooting and platforming from the original PS2 game and turn it into a wonderful PS4 exclusive. With a ton of silly and powerful weapons to choose from and a difficulty level appropriate for players of all skills, Ratchet & Clank is a wonderful introduction to the genre, and its writing will have you laughing out loud throughout. Bethesda made big strides in terms of controls with Fallout 4, delivering better shooting mechanics than in previous entries while retaining its timeless role-playing game structure. It's a lengthy and expansive RPG that serves up plenty of interesting quests in the wastelands surrounding Boston, multiple factions to side with or against, a massive world to explore, and a story that reacts to your choices. Role-playing isn’t as nuanced as in previous games, and companions don’t have much to say, but the downgrades to these RPG mainstays have been made in favor of deeper simulational elements. Plus, if you want to take a walk on the creative side, Fallout 4 has extensive base-building mechanics, which you can use to build impressive hideouts.Apart from the adrenaline-pumping single-player mode, Doom also offers a plethora of exciting multiplayer modeswhere you can go up against your friends in an exhilarating bloodbath. Original Doom is still considered one of the best shooters and the return of the game has continued its legacy. The top-notch gore combined with a great story underneath sure does make it a must-play shooter game for the PS4.
