About this deal

Leave your aburaage to one side and pour your soy sauce, Japanese dashi broth, miso, and sugar into the same water in the pot. Inari Mini ISO - ISO means ‘inside out’ because the is rice on outside of the seaweed (nori). This variety contains inari (fried soya bean), tamago, cucumber and shichimi powder (Japanese chilli) I bought the standard rice that you get here for making sushi. I’ll try it next time with your measurements. Thank you!

A: Yes of course. I sometimes add roasted white sesame seeds into the sushi rice. Make the sushi rice and when you add sushi vinegar, also add sesame seeds. In Australia, you can buy upside down Inari sushi topped with mayo and crab meat or seaweed. Let your imagination run wild and be creative!Blanch the aburaage in a boilin gwater to remove the (factory) oil for a cleaner taste. Drain well. The drinks menu using the barcode wouldn’t load as there was no internet connection - I was left for ages trying to access it - eventually I got the attention of a server & had to use their iPad to view menu. - my 2 choices of wine were unavailable so I ended up just having water.

Inari is definitely used and made all over the world today, but there’s an interesting little competition happening in Japan between Tokyo and Osaka. Because tofu and rice are such versatile ingredients, there have been a number of different recipes and methods of manufacture which have resulted in slight differences in the final product. The name of this sushi is associated with a type of shrine called ‘ Inari Shrine’, which used to worship the deity, Inari. It is said that the favourite food of the fox, the messenger of Inari, was aburaage (deep fried thin tofu) so people offered aburaage to the shrine.the only thing I found were chinese aburaage cubes. I cut them in two, because I felt them to big for my taste and I thought when cooking them in water the inside soaks up a little oil too in abuurage pouches so I hope the taste is more similar. I will try to make some kind of inarisushi with them, even if I can’t fill them right, the taste should be alike.
