About this deal
Why haven’t they grown? This impossible question is one that this entire novel is written around, and it certainly is intriguing. From this premise alone I truly had no idea what to expect by way of explaining Thomas and Emily’s seeming inability to grow. At first, I thought it might be some science experiment gone awfully wrong, or, even worse, perfectly right. Beth involves her daughter in the mystery and just keeps digging into the circumstances. In fact, Beth’s daughter Zannah was a great character! As you might imagine, things get dicey for Beth and I wasn’t sure how this one would end up! She knows she shouldn't be there, but she's so curious about her friend. She sees Flora call out to her children Thomas and Emily to get out of the car, but the children who appear look exactly the same as the children Beth remembers, aged five and three, from 12 years ago.
