In note No.12 of Waverley, Sir Walter Scott, while discussing canting of arms in heraldry wrote, "The Periissem ni per-iissem of the Anstruthers is liable to a similar objection. One of that ancient race, finding that an antagonist, with whom he had fixed a friendly meeting, was determined to take the opportunity of assassinating him, prevented the hazard by dashing out his brains with a battle-axe. Two sturdy arms, brandishing such a weapon, form the usual crest of the family, with the above motto, Periissem ni per-iissem—'I had died, unless I had gone through with it '". Traveling with a small crew and an even smaller hippie van, these two describe the battle of Culloden, clan rivalries, and a bit of their own personal reminiscences. What is certain is that by the 15th century Clan Cameron was flourishing in its spectacular Lochaber. The clan’s seat of Achnacarry Castle guards a vital strategic point at the south-west end of the Great Glen. It stands by a river on an isthmus between two lochs: Loch Lochy to the east, and Loch Arkaig to the west. To the south rise the might shoulders of Aonach Mor and the unmistakeable majesty of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain. This wildly beautiful land of water, forest and mountain is the ancestral realm of Clan Cameron - a place to be proud of.

I like a hot Scottish accent as much as the next person & was considering this as a xmas gift for someone so thought I'd give the audiobook a spin. Oh man... these two come off as INSUFFERABLE douchebags. Maybe the smarmy, self-important tone isn't as obvious in print, but I'm currently 2/3 through the audio version and I don't know if I can even finish it. I'm giving it a couple of stars for the historical content (and the accents, which don't disappoint), but oof. Buyer beware. While I don’t care much for Outlander books, I’ve always been partial to Outlander the TV show (the horror of liking the movie more than the book! Book gods are about to smite me!). To borrow the description that this book provides about it, “The show can be best described as tartan and soft porn”.Chris Evans’ Cringey ‘Pain Hustlers’ Rap Is Inspired By a Real Rap Video Made By Ex-Pharma Executives Crest: A lady dressed in ancient apparel azure holding in her dexter hand an anchor and in her sinister hand the head of a savage couped suspended by the hair all Proper.
